- Account Information: Email address and phone number when you create an account or register for events
- Event Data: Registration history, attendance, and game scores for league play
- Contact Information: Name, email, and phone number when you contact us or sign up for our newsletter
- Payment Information: Processed securely through Stripe for paid events (we do not store card details)

How We Use Your Information
- To manage event registrations and check-ins
- To maintain league standings and player statistics
- To send event updates and newsletter content (with your consent)
- To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- To process payments for paid events
- To send SMS/text messages related to your club membership and events
Marketing Communications
By creating an account or providing your email address to Bam Good Time, you agree that we may use your email address to send you:
- Transactional messages — account confirmations, event registrations, receipts, password resets, and similar service communications
- Product updates — announcements about new features, club news, and platform changes
- Offers and promotions — including offers for Bam Good Time products (such as Mahjong tiles and accessories), partner products, and curated recommendations relevant to the Mahjong community
All marketing emails include a clear unsubscribe link. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time without affecting your ability to use the platform — transactional service messages will continue regardless of marketing preferences. To opt out, click the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or contact us through our contact page.
We do not sell your email address to third parties. Marketing emails are sent by Bam Good Time on behalf of itself and its affiliated brands only.
Advertising
We reserve the right to advertise and promote our own products, services, and events — within our platforms, by email, and through notifications you have opted into. We may use the information we collect to personalize the offers and recommendations we show you. The advertising we run promotes Bam Good Time and its affiliated brands.
We also advertise off our own platforms, through Google Ads and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To do that we use the analytics and advertising technologies described in the Cookies and Tracking Technologies section below. In addition, once a week we upload the email addresses of registered Bam Good Time accounts to Google Ads, so that we can show ads to our existing members and reach other people with similar interests. Email addresses are hashed with SHA-256 before they leave our servers, which means Google receives a scrambled value rather than a readable address.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your phone number or your SMS consent data with advertisers.
SMS/Text Messaging (Club & Event Notifications)
By providing your phone number and consenting to receive text messages, you agree to receive SMS messages from Bam Good Time and the Mahjong clubs you join. These club and event messages are transactional in nature and relate to your club membership and event participation. Separately, you can opt in to marketing and restock text messages through our online shop, described in the Mobile / SMS Messaging (Marketing & Restock Alerts) section below.
Types of Messages
We may send you the following types of SMS messages:
- Account Invitations: When a club administrator invites you to join their club
- Event Reminders: Notifications about upcoming events you're registered for
- Check-in Notifications: Confirmations when you check in to an event, including table assignments
- Game Results: Updates about your scores and rating changes after league play
- Waitlist Updates: Notifications when you're moved from a waitlist to a confirmed spot
- Account Verification: One-time codes for phone number verification
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on your event participation. You may receive 1-5 messages per event you're registered for. Verification codes are sent only when you request them.
Opting Out
You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. You will receive a confirmation message and will no longer receive texts from us. Reply START to resubscribe.
Help
For help, reply HELP to any message or contact us through our contact page.
Costs
Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details about your text messaging plan.
SMS Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or SMS opt-in data with third parties for marketing purposes. Phone numbers you provide for club and event notifications are used for those transactional messages; phone numbers you provide through the shop's opt-in program are used as described in the Mobile / SMS Messaging (Marketing & Restock Alerts) section below.
Mobile / SMS Messaging (Marketing & Restock Alerts)
This section describes how we collect, use, and share the mobile phone numbers and SMS/text-message consent you provide, including numbers collected through our online shop's "Notify me when back in stock" form and through club registration.
How We Collect Your Mobile Number
We collect a mobile phone number only when you provide it yourself — for example, when you enter your number in the shop's "Notify me when back in stock" form (shown on sold-out products) or when you provide it during club registration. Every SMS opt-in is presented as a separate checkbox that is unchecked by default and requires your explicit action to check. Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of any purchase.
How We Use Your Mobile Number
We use the phone number and SMS consent you provide to send restock alerts for products you asked about, occasional promotional messages about restocks, new products, and sales, and transactional notices related to your account, club membership, and events. We send only the categories of message you opted in to.
Opting In and Opting Out
You opt in through explicit, unchecked consent — no SMS checkbox is pre-checked. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message; you will receive a confirmation and will no longer receive texts of that type. For help, reply HELP.
Mobile Information and Third Parties
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Location
We do not track where you are. The only place Bam Good Time asks for your location is the club finder, and only when you tap Use my location yourself. Your browser or phone then asks your permission, and you can decline and type a ZIP code instead — nothing about the club finder requires location access.
If you allow it, the coordinates your device reports are sent to our server in the body of a single request, which means they are not written into the web address and do not appear in our server request logs. We convert them to the nearest United States ZIP code and send that ZIP back so the club list can be sorted by distance for you. We do not store the coordinates, we do not save them to your profile, we do not show them to any other person, and we do not share them with advertisers or anyone else. The reply is marked not to be cached.
Separately, the member directory lets you type a city name if you choose to appear in it. That is a name you type, not a reading from your device, and it is used to show you clubs and members near that city.
Photos You Upload
You can upload images to Bam Good Time in four places, all of them optional and all of them started by you:
- Your profile photo, which is shown to the clubs you belong to
- Images you post in club channels or direct messages
- Documents or photos you attach when claiming a club listing, which our staff review to confirm the claim
- The screenshot attached to a problem report, which is a picture of the Bam Good Time screen you were looking at rather than a photo from your library, and is sent to our support team so we can see the same thing you did
We do not scan your photo library, and we never take an image without you choosing it. We do not sell uploaded images and we do not use them for advertising.
One thing worth knowing: an image posted in chat is stored at its own web address that is not itself password-protected, so anyone who has that exact address can open the image. Treat a chat photo as something you are willing for others to see. When you delete your account we delete your profile photo files; images you posted in chat and files you attached to a listing claim are stored separately and are not removed automatically, so email us if you want those deleted too. Photos taken at events are covered by the Event Photos and Likeness section below, which is a different situation.
Event Photos and Likeness
Photos and video taken at club events — by club organizers, hosts, attendees, or anyone else present — may be published by the club for promotional purposes such as the club's social media, event recap posts, newsletters, and venue marketing. Each club is responsible for the photos it publishes from its own events and for handling any requests to remove an image. If you do not want your image used, contact the club's administrator directly using the contact information on the club's page; they will remove existing published photos featuring you and exclude you from future use. For events where minors may attend, parental consent for photo use is the responsibility of the club and is handled at the venue.
In-App Messages (Club Chat and Direct Messages)
Bam Good Time includes chat: club channels anyone in the club can read, and direct messages between two people. The text of those messages, and any image attached to them, is stored on our servers so it can be delivered and shown again later. Chat is optional — you can register for events, play in leagues and book tables without ever sending a message.
Messages are not private from us in the technical sense: they are not end-to-end encrypted, and our staff can read them when we have a reason to, such as investigating a report or fixing a bug. We do not read chat for advertising, we do not use it to profile you, and we do not share it with advertisers or sell it.
Messages posted in a club's community channels are automatically checked against that club's rules by an AI service (Anthropic's Claude), which classifies each message as fine, borderline, or a rule violation; a violation is hidden and a note is posted in the channel. That automatic check runs on community channels only, not on direct messages. Separately, anyone can report a message, and the club's administrators review reports and can dismiss them, warn the sender, delete the message, or mute the sender. You can also block or mute another member from your own settings.
Deleting a message hides it from everyone rather than erasing the row immediately, so that reports and moderation decisions can still be reviewed. When you delete your account, the messages you sent are deleted with it, though images you posted remain in storage until you ask us to remove them, as described above. A copy of a message that another person has already screenshotted or quoted is outside our control.
Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to help run our platform:
- Supabase: Database and authentication services
- Stripe: Payment processing for paid events
- Twilio: SMS/text messaging services
- Shopify: E-commerce for our shop
- Resend: Email communications
- Formspree: Contact form submissions
- Vercel: Website hosting
- Google Analytics: Website and product analytics
- Google Ads: Advertising, conversion measurement, and audience targeting
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram): Advertising and conversion measurement
- Sentry: Error and crash diagnostics
- Anthropic (Claude): Automated moderation of community chat channels
Sentry receives error and crash reports from our website and apps so we can fix what breaks. We configure it not to collect personal information, and we do not attach your account to those reports.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information. All data is transmitted over secure HTTPS connections, and we use industry-standard encryption for sensitive data. Payment card details are entered on Stripe's own hosted checkout pages and never reach our servers.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time
You can delete your account yourself from Settings, or ask us to delete it if you can no longer sign in. Our account deletion page explains both routes, exactly what deletion removes, and what is kept.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use essential cookies to maintain your login session and remember your preferences.
We also use analytics and advertising technologies from Google and Meta on our website. These set their own cookies and similar identifiers, and they report your activity on our site back to those companies. Specifically, we load Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) pixel on every page. The Meta pixel records a page view each time a page loads, and on a completed checkout it also records the amount, the currency, and an order reference. Purchases measured by Google Analytics are imported into Google Ads so we can see which ads produced them.
When you are signed in, we attach your Bam Good Time account identifier to your Google Analytics activity, along with a flag recording that you were signed in, so we can measure how members use the site. That identifier is an internal account number rather than your name or email address.
If you reach us by clicking a Google ad, we store the click identifier from that link in a cookie we set ourselves, and we attach it to any checkout you then complete, so we can tell which ads lead to registrations.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, and Google and Meta each provide their own ad and privacy settings for the data they collect.
